Abilities

Most Pokémon have 1–2 regular abilities, plus a rarer Hidden Ability. You usually won't find it on wild Pokémon — it shows up in special encounters (Tera raids, SOS calls, Max Raids) and can be passed down through breeding once you have one.

• Ability Patch — changes a regular ability into the Hidden Ability (one-way). Find it under Items → Ability Items.
• Ability Capsule — switches between the two regular abilities (can't grant Hidden).
• In Scarlet/Violet, Hidden Ability Pokémon also appear in Tera raids.

Pokémon marked with the purple Hidden badge have this ability as their Hidden Ability.
